Abstract: Most of the existing wirelessoff-line chargers would employ redundant power conversion and isolation stagesto charge a low-voltage battery, which leads to limited overall efﬁciency. Inorder to address the redundancy issue, this paper proposes a wireless fastcharger by using a two-stage conﬁguration. An unregulated IPT stage can notonly offer galvanic isolation but also provide high step-down voltage ratio,and then only a simple buck converter is needed for voltage regulation. Thispaper evaluates the inﬂuence of voltage gain on efﬁciency and voltage stress ofa LCC-C compensated IPT stage. The ZVS lost mechanism is also studied andevaluated by a proposed ZVS model. Finally, a 45-W fast charger prototype isdesigned for 264V/12V conversion. The measured peak efﬁciency is 78%, which ismuch higher than the Qi-based charger.
